5.12.8.1. Tabbed page Classification: Manage and execute templates

Create classes and attributes in different templates and then assign them to projects and complete directories specifically. This will accelerate the classification process of whole catalogs significantly.

Templates can contain just one single class system but also multiple.

There are different options for the designing of templates.

  • Creation of empty classes and attributes

  • Creation of already filled classes and attributes

  • Saving of default values in variables in order to quickly and simply select them.

Example with setting a GTIN number with specific value

The GTIN-number attribute, for example, exists in many classifications. Now when creating a variable for this number in the template management and inserting it in different classifications, it will be set at all occurrences in other projects at once when executing the template.

  1. Select the tabbed page Classification and click on the button Manage templates.

    Tabbed page "Classification"

    Tabbed page "Classification"

-> The Template Editor is opened.

  2. Top left, create a new template via button or select an already existing one (here in this example GTIN).

  3. At the very top, on the right side, in the list field, select the class (here in this example one after another "eclass10.1." and "CNS").

-> Under it, all classes are listed.

  4. Perform a double-click on the desired class.

-> The class is displayed on the left under Selected classes.

-> In the field below the attributes of the selected class are listed.

  5. Optionally, now you can enter table variables (column Variable) or fixed values (column Value).

    Enter values in class attributes

Furthermore you can create variables with specific values under Input variables, which then can also be used for the entries under Variable and Value (here in this example "$GTIN."). Create new lines via button. Fill out the fields ID, Name, Description and Data type. Depending on data type more input fields are displayed below.

  6. Via list field, switch to another classification (here in this example "CNS") and repeat above procedure for any other classes and attributes.

  7. Finally close the Template Editor by clicking OK.

  8. In PARTproject, click on the save button.

  9. You can open the Template Editor anytime later by clicking on Manage templates .

  10. Now you can assign the template data either to single projects or to directories:

    • Apply to single projects:

      1. Select the project to be classified on the basis of the template data.

      2. Open the dialog Execute template by clicking on Execute template .

        Execute template

        Execute template

      3. Select the desired template.

If you created variables under Input variables, they are listed in the dialog and can still be adjusted now optionally.

        [Tip]Tip

In particular for electrical classifications complex strings have to be set sometimes. Here, a base string like "CNS_CP|4|6||x" could be set in the variable, which then only has to be adjusted a little bit at its last position (CNS_CP|4|6||8, CNS_CP|4|6||10, CNS_CP|4|6||12, etc.).

        Overwrite existing classifications:

        • Deactivated (default): Existing variables and values are not overwritten

        • Activated: Existing variables and values are overwritten

      4. Confirm with OK.

        -> The template is executed.

    • Apply to directories:

      1. Select the desired directory.

      2. Under Automation, call the context menu command Batch run classification with templates.

        Batch run classification with templates

        Batch run classification with templates

-> The dialog Execute template is opened. Details have been explained above.

        Execute batch

        Execute batch

      3. Close the dialog with OK or apply the template data via Execute batch.

Storage place of templates

Templates created in the Template Editor are saved on catalog main level in the directory _classstore using the json format.

Translation of templates

In the _classstore directory, there is a .def file for each template. Texts like the description of the template can be translated here.
