4.7.2.1. Analyse assemblies - Document scan + Purchineering (9.04)

Function

As of PARTsolutions version 9.04 you can find a new tab Analyses in the PARTdataManager Part selection with the Document scan function.

The new feature has two functions:

  1. Check up-to-dateness of PARTsolutions parts in an assembly loaded in the CAD system

  2. Analyse, which parts of an assembly are own parts and which are PARTsolutions parts

    +

Performing of purchineering analyses based on the resulting structure (optionally plus manually added parts)

PARTsolutions part or own part?

  • PARTsolutions parts you can recognize by the standard icons

    3D part

    Assembly

Own parts you can recognize by the following icons:

    Assembly

    Single part without geometry

Import conducted with deactivated option Import geometry.

As of v9.05 you can import geometries via context menu command Import geometry later.

  • Up-to-dateness check for PARTsolutions parts

During the up-to-dateness check the assembled 3d parts are compared with the current catalog status.

    Meaning of symbols:

    =

Part of your assembly is according to the latest in PARTsolutions.

    >

Within PARTsolutions there is a more up-to-date part than in your assembly. In order to update the part, use the interface function Replace parts in your CAD system.

    <

The part in your assembly is more up-to-date than the latest in PARTsolutions.

This case can occur for example, when several users use the same assembly, however use different PARTsolutions catalog versions.

Create directories and move contents

In order to create a desired structure on the Analyses index page, you can use the following commands and methods:

  • Create new directory

    Rename directory

  • Add to analysis...

Before you conduct analyses like Make or Buy, etc. based on the document scan, you can add other parts in order for the analyses to additionally consider them.

On the Catalogs index page, in the context menu of each directory or project you can find the Add to analysis... command.

As soon as you have executed the command, the Add to analysis dialog box appears.

    [Note]Note

It is not possible to add something within the scan structure. Added parts appear next to the scan. However you can create any desired directories. See above.

The following figure exemplifies how you can expand the directory structure in order to include other parts for analyses in addition to the scanned assembly.

  • Drag & Drop

You can move complete scans into new created directories via Drag & Drop.

Communicate cross-departmental via comment function

In the context menu of each directory or project you can find the Document scan comments... command.[60]

-> The Document scan comments dialog box opens. Insert your comment and confirm with OK.

-> The comment icon appears in the respective directory or project line. When you move the mouse over the icon, the comment is displayed in a tooltip.

Clicking on the comment icon the Document scan comments dialog box opens again and you can add more comments. When you delete the content of the dialog box (e.g. via "Del" key), then the comment icon disappears again.

You can find detailed information on this under Section 3.1.12, “ Document scan / Analyses ” in PARTsolutions - User manual.

[60] Comments are stored in the so called "Shared Index", in order to enable cross-departmental workflows.
