5.12.11.29.4. Set Electrical Connections (CNS_CP|4|3) exemplified with a terminal

Electrical connections have a lot of attributes. But they don't have to be explained because the most are self explanatory (e.g. cable cross section, number of connection, etc.).

In the following we will show how to classify connection points as Electrical Connection in principle.

For this example the Weidmüller terminal "1267910000" is used.

The attribute values to be entered can be taken from the datasheet.

Select the desired 3db file in PARTproject under Project selection, select the desired 3db file.

Under Edit project -> Preview, click on the context menu command Select connection point [Choose connection point].

➝ The same named dialog box is opened with all available connection points.

Important

As the list has no visual representation of the points, it is crucial that the connection points are named clearly and logically beforehand.

You should name them according to the names from the datasheet, customer requests or electrical rules.

Select the connection point to be classified and confirm with OK.
-> A dialog opens below the preview [Preview] where you can select the class to be assigned. The associated characteristics are displayed to the right of this.

Select the Electrical Connection class ( =CNS_CP|4|3 ), check the box in front of it and fill in the values of the displayed characteristics on the right.

	A single connection point can have several classifications

Name: Appears in the ECAD software

Note

You should name them according to the names from the datasheet, customer requests or electrical rules.

The name is also displayed under Published elements in the left-hand column and also as the heading name on the label in the 3D preview, and later also in the PARTdataManager as the label name.

Identifier: Should be identical to Name.
Connection type: "Cage clamp" (Not all ECAD programs support the same connection type names!)
Connection EclassSymbolMap: See Section 5.12.11.29.5, “Class "Electrical Connection" (CNS_CP|4|3) -> Attribute "Connection EclassSymbolMap"”
Connection Name Equivalences: See Section 5.12.11.29.6, “Electrical Connection" class (CNS_CP|4|3) -> "Connection name equivalences " feature”

Alternatively, you can also save and then edit the Electrical Connection characteristics in the Class variables dialog.

Save in PARTproject and recreate the index . You can then also see the characteristics in PARTdataManager in the part information.
