7.9.3.6.  Shapes -> Special

  • Insert rectangle

Creation of a rectangle via Basis and diagonal End point

    1. Click on the base point and drag an rectangle with the mouse.

    2. Fix the end point with a mouse click.

    3. Adjust the exact position (Base point X and Base point Y) and the dimension (Width and Height) in the docking window Edit element.

  • Insert hexagon

Creation of a Hexagon via Center point and Width across flats

    1. Click the center point.

      [Note]Note

If you want the center point to be snapped, you have to enable Snap to grid in the quick settings.

      [Note]Note

The Center point of a hexagon will not be a snap point later!

    2. Drag the hexagon to the desired width and fix it with a mouse click.

      [Note]Note

If you want the width to snap at certain steps you have to enable Scalar parameters in the settings.

      "Scalar parameters" enabled

      "Scalar parameters" enabled

      [Note]Note

When dragging the hexagon you cannot affect the angle of rotation. The hexagon is always created with a start angle of 0°. If needed, adjust the parameters in the docking window Edit element.

-> In the docking window Edit element, Rotate selection is displayed.

    3. If needed, adjust the Center point of the hexagon (Rotation point X and Rotation point Y) and the Angle of rotation.

    4. In the Sketch history, select the point Insert hexagon.

-> In the docking window Edit element, now the view changes to Insert hexagon. Here, you can adjust Width across flats, furthermore, also here, the center point of the hexagon via Center point X and Center point Y.

  • Insert N-sided polygon

Creation of a N-sided polygon via Center point, Radius and Start angle

    1. Choose center point and Choose radius:

Click on the desired center point (not visible!) and drag the polygon with the cursor.

      [Note]Note

The Center point of a polygon will not be a snap later!

At the cursor position, an edge of the polygon is placed and so the Start angle is determined (which can be adjusted in the dialog Edit element later). If the point is on the horizontal, the Start angle is 0°.

      [Note]Note

If you want the center point to be snapped by the grid, you have to enable Snap to grid in the quick settings.

    2. Through circular motion of the cursor around the midpoint, the number of corners changes.

The smaller the angle between the help lines, the larger the number of corners.

    3. Fix the number of corners by mouse click.

-> If needed, adjust the single parameters in the docking window Edit element.

      • Center point X:

      • Center point Y:

      • Radius: (always the outer radius of the polygon is meant)

      • Count: Number of corners

      • Start angle: The start angle is measured between horizontal and polygon's right corner.
