As an alternative to view type Table, specifying the characteristic can be performed in the new view type Vertical.

Using the view type Vertical enables part specification in only a few steps.

The vertical view shows the following columns:

  • Name of variable with Variable description

  • Variable value

    There are different options:

    • Fixed value

    • Value selection of a standard variable

    • Value selection of a value range variable

    Via input fields, list fields, sliders, etc., the value can be adjusted (if that is possible in general).

  • Symbol to describe the variable's current status of selection

    Especially interesting is whether a characteristic is sufficiently specified and/or there are still options.

The following table explains the different symbols:

  Meaning

Fixed value

The variable contains a fixed value which cannot be changed.

There are some values possible at the moment.

When selecting a value the following happens in the list field:

  1. At the changed variable, the symbol is changed to .

  2. At depending variables, the symbol is also changed.

    There are two possibilities:

    1. Only one value is still possible.

      -> The variable is marked with .

      In the opened list field, you see a black value (the set one) and all others in blue.

    2. There are some restrictions, nonetheless some more values are possible.

      -> Further on, the variable is marked with .

      In the opened list field, you can see black values. These have not been hit by the selection.

      Furthermore you see blue values. These have been filtered by the selection.

Example: D has been set on the value 1.6. As a result for L values greater or equal 20 are not possible anymore. These are displayed in blue now.

Filtered. Filtered variables restrict other selections.

Pinned value

  • The value has been pinned by clicking on or by direct value selection.

    In the list field of the pinned variable all values are displayed in blue, excluded the set one, this is black.

    That does not mean, you cannot change values anymore.

    However, when selecting a blue value all settings made before are removed.

  • Filtered variables restrict depending variables. There, values not available anymore are also colored in blue.

    Variables not hit by the filter remain black.

  • By clicking on the symbol, the filter can be removed. Then the original symbol is displayed again.

Selection done. There is only one value left to choose.

Value indirectly determined

This symbol is shown, if

  1. only one value has been possible in general

    or

  2. the selection options have been restricted to only one value by the filter.

    However, when selecting a blue value all settings made before are removed.

If ERP integration is used the ERP status icons are displayed in addition and serve the orientation at part selection.

Example: For selection D=16 there are parts which are used at all company locations.
