4.4.5. Combined search: 2D sketch search + geometric features

Search for an angle:

  1. Use the 2D sketch search [2D Sketch search] to draw the side view of the desired angle.

At the best for this, use the pencil with strength 16.

    [Tip]Tip

You can draw a straight line when pressing the shift key.

  2. Click Apply and search.

-> The results are still relatively unspecific.

  3. Also use Advanced search for geometric features.

The Geometric features dialog area opens.

Select Size and enter >= 90 under Largest dimension [Major Dimension].

    [Note]Note

When specifying the size, all 6 or only 1 of the options can be used.

    [Tip]Tip

May be just stating one property can be more expedient than many.

  4. Click Apply and search.

-> Now the search results are closer to the searched part. There is both a round hole and a long hole variant.

  5. If there are a large number of hits, it may be useful to restrict further. You have the option of specifying a hole [Hole] or slotted hole [Slotted Hole] under Geometric features.

Open the dialog area anew by clicking on the respective icon in the search bar.

  6. For example, select Hole and enter the desired characteristic values.

    [Tip]Tip

Using "=" you can search for exact values.

However, sometimes it is better to use "greater equal", "from - to", etc. in order not to lose important hits.

  7. Click Apply and search.

-> Now an exactly fitting angle is found under the first search results.

  8. Open the part in table and 3D view.

For example, to check, use Measuring grid and Measuring tool [Measure functions].

  9. If necessary, also check the results section under Technical views.
