Here you can set the color [Color], percentage of metallic [Percentage Metallic], roughness [Roughness] or texture/normal map (also in combination). You can find details on this under Section 5.9.2.8.4, “Detailed example of the Render Material function ”.

[Note]Note

Textures/Normalmaps

  1. Textures from the Internet may only be used if the source is freely usable on the Internet. This can be recognized by the fact that it is not necessary to specify where the source comes from. It is also important that the texture may be used without attribution. -> It is best to only use textures that are CC0 (Creative Commons Public Domain) and without attribution!

  2. For each texture downloaded from the Internet, the source, i.e. the link, must be stored in the catalog. In addition, the date and time when the download took place! This is for legal protection.

  3. Textures can be downloaded from the following sites, for example:

Attention: Sometimes the licenses are defined differently for each texture!

  4. Do not download textures from forums, where the license conditions are often unclear.

General:

  • Textures should always be downloaded and stored together with a corresponding normal/normal map with the identical resolution.

Textures may be used without the corresponding normal/normal map. However, a normal may not be used without the corresponding texture!

  • Textures must be tileable (→ seamlessness).

  • Textures must not be scaled or compressed!

  • Attention must be paid to the resolution of the texture:

    • min.: 256*256

    • max.: 1024*1024

It is important that the resolution is a power of 2 (2^n).

    Permitted resolutions: 256*256; 512*512; 1024*1024

If no permissible resolution is available, please contact your CADENAS representative.

  • file format

Textures: jpg is the preferred format. Exception: Transparent textures: 32 bit png files are recommended in this case. Higher bit depths are not supported and only lead to unnecessarily large file sizes, which should be avoided.

Normal mapping: jpg is the preferred format (also applies to normal mapping for transparent textures).

[Note]Note

The option of mapping materials to colors using a batch process may also be of interest in this context. In this way, older parts can be made even more visually appealing with little effort.

See Section 5.8.2.1.16.11, “ Materials made of colors ”.

Colors can be used for the color search. Care must be taken here to use the "In geometry and table [In geometry and table]" option for the corresponding variable in the variable manager [Variable Manager] under Storage location [Save location]. For details, see Section 7.8.11, “ Storage location: Only in geometry | Only in table | In geometry and table ”.
